The previous Workshop of MODEST, (MODEST 2014),
which was traditionally affiliated with the bi-annual Polish BOS conference
(BOS 2014), took place on September 25-26 (Thursday-Friday) 2014 in Warsaw.
The (broader) BOS 2014 meeting was organised jointly with the Systems
Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences. These events were run
in conjunction with several other events, either literally collocated, or
tightly connected in time and space. The most important of these was the
IEEE Intelligent Systems 2014 meeting, but we should also mention the
significant international meeting on Soft Methods in Probability and
Statistics (SMPS 2014), as well as an international workshop, devoted to the
assessment of uncertainty in the data on greenhouse gas emissions, the ways
to overcome and accommodate this uncertainty. All these meetings formed a
true synergy, with participants taking advantage of the possibility of
listening to, and, indeed, discussing, the lectures and papers from the
other meetings.
